I wanna see the sun rise
all over the world with you.
Aaron & Piper
The Brooklyn Bridge in November
is a different kind of cold.
Show up at 5:00 in the morning and you better be prepared. That was my warning to Aaron when he called me from Missouri. He told me all about how him and Piper always make sure to catch a sunrise everywhere they go, and that he knew he wanted to propose to her at one such sunrise. This was the one, on the Brooklyn Bridge, in November, on their vacation in New York.
Me being me and doing what I do I knew that meant arriving at the bridge to find parking at 4 a.m. Luckily I had a friend who lived near by at the time and let me crash and parking was surprisingly no problem. It was my first time seeing the sunrise from that iconic structure too so I was in to it.
The sun was intense with a ripe orange glow that played with cool hues of the shadows cast by the buildings now emblazed in gold. The American flag waved high above on the Manhattan side pier and there they were, walking up, taking selfies, and Aaron sneaking a peak out to make sure I was there. He gave her the letter he wrote and I fired away. Sure enough he dropped to one knee and I got closer as the jig was up now.
Piper was vibrant, the colorful part of Aaron’s life who really carried this “I’m just along for the ride” kind of approach and enjoying every minute he had with her.
It really was the perfect setting for this momentous occasion.
