And so it begins, my first
ever proposal shoot.
Michael & Julia
This proposal shoot was where one
passion of mine led to another.
Michael found me through an incredibly talented photographer, Bryan Sargent, I had met and befriended on my very first day out running Faces of Mets Fans. He took a photo of me with his film camera while I was embarking on my journey. Bryan shoots weddings, and very well, and in 2019 he let me tag along for my first wedding shoots. He was booked for this proposal so he passed Michael along to me.
Being my first proposal gig, and because Michael had a pretty well thought out plan for the whole ordeal, I just really went with his flow. We figured it all out on maps. He had snapped some pictures on his travels and it really made sense. Knowing what I know now I would have advised to shoot later in the day, but it
really wasn’t bad. It was partly cloudy that day, which is great as the sun gets diffused through the clouds. We went for the walk around Liberty State Park and it was just so much fun to just snap away as these two stared at each other. It was during this very first proposal shoot I knew I wanted to capture more of these.
Michael and Julia really loved these shots and the whole experience, but when I showed Bryan and he gave me the thumbs up I was really proud. Up until this point my photography was mainly focused around sports. I had shot a few events and learned a lot of things, but after this shoot I really gained the confidence that I could not only deliver the photographs that my clients wanted, but the experience they never really thought about in the first place.
