Jeff & Jackie
Alright, stall her. I’m gonna
go save the day.
Sometimes it just doesn’t go as
planned, and you either
improvise, or you fix the situation. It was an easy choice for me this time around. I invested so much in this plan we had set to shoot across the water. I asked Jeff what was more important, scenic shots of the proposal, or getting the details of her reaction? Basically if we shoot across the water I can get shots that are just different, and then we can surprise Jackie after when the photographer pops out of nowhere and capture that reaction. He was in and so was I.
The problem was that when I got there an hour early about a half hour in a group of college kids, maybe 8 of them, just hung out there and weren’t leaving. So instead of improvising I texted Jeff to stall her, take her wherever and let me run around to move these kids. That was a workout with my camera bag on my back and a
significant distance to cover. When I got to this group they were the coolest about the whole thing and hung out for me to keep the coast clear. I couldn’t believe it.
So I ran all the way back, told Jeff what was up, and other than one lady that made her way down it was clear. They arrived and Jeff waited until the that lady left and then down he went, to one knee and asked Jackie to marry him. People started clapping and cheering while I was running from one angle to the next moving all along the sides snapping away.
I walked all the way around again exhausted from the previous run and waited for them to arrive to that open boulder. Her reaction was priceless.
