Daniel & Belen

Ascend the steps,

descend to a knee.

In retrospect maybe it was

a little bit ambitious.

To be fair it was inspired by one of my favorite shots I captured at this very same location in my first ever proposal shoot at Central Park. Of course the first time around it was a portrait, planned with time on the spot. This time it was a proposal happening out of nowhere with a ton of moving parts we you might call New Yorkers.

Daniel had called me from California and was visiting New York City with his beautiful Belen. He knew he wanted to ask her to spend the rest of her life with him. He just had never been to New York before so he needed to have a plan. I’m glad he called me cause I gave him the scoop of what I wanted him to do to get an epic shot of him down on one knee.

He almost nailed it too, but just went in a couple of steps in after reaching the top. I was set up on the bridge over the stairs so when someone got in the way cause of the space I improvised quick. I got a couple of shots quick and got in close. Then we proceeded to roam this massive park and get some incredible photos.

Belen was just the sweetest thing. She was super happy. He was tearing up, and they were both dressed remarkably well together as a couple. I love shooting in Central Park with the city rising above the horizon set by the trees of the only part of Manhattan that doesn’t feel like the city.
