Lets go relive out first date

again, but differently.

Steve & Lauren

This was the most intensive

photoshoot I have ever produced

for an engagement session. We had a blast shooting their proposal so when Steve called me up for an engagement session he said Lauren and him were in for anything. I was falling in love with creative lighting at the time and wanted to create a photography offering that put all my skills to work. This was the very first rendition of what I now call the Story Book Experience.

The plan was to relive their first date, but tell it through portraiture bringing out all the stops to create dramatic images. When they told me that their first date included two ferry rides in New York City I knew I was in for it. My friend and fellow photographer, Maksim, decided to join me to produce a video

with the intention of them playing it at their wedding. I spent hours creating an itinerary tracking every ferry ride, every subway train, how long were cab rides, what would the traffic be like, you name it. It was built in 5 minute increments because if we missed a ferry the whole thing was done for. To keep up I had two other assistants with me and Maksim filming. It went down like clockwork.

The sunrise for the ferry ride home stayed hidden from us. We improvised as the cold October rain started drizzling and the sun basically gone when we got off the ferry. We ended it with a backlit shot and the Verrazzano lit up in the background.
